The Desert: Ait Ben Haddou and Merzouga
After a long day of driving over the mountains, we got to Ait Ben Haddou- a village built entirely of earthen clay. It was late in the day when we arrived, but we still had time to explore the town and buy a few gifts to take home. We had dinner in our hostel and played a Moroccan card game (similar to uno) with some people who worked there.
We left early the next day and continued driving towards Merzouga, which is surrounded by the sand dunes of the Sahara desert. We got driven
into the dunes just in time for sunset which was gorgeous. After dinner, the hotel staff performed music and we got to know some of the other guests from Italy and China. The next day we walked / sand boarded through the dunes and read our books. It was one of the most unique landscapes we’d ever seen and we were so glad to spend time there.
